ebay faulty goods repaired?

I purchased a brand new Hotpoint washing machine off Co-op Electrical ebay shop. When I got it there was a fault and I wished to return it for a full refund. Instead Co-op have sent a Hotpoint engineer around to fix it. In view of it being sold as Brand New if I return it to Co-op ebay and they sent someone around to fix it against my wishes do Co-op have to pay return postage or me? I did get the engineer to write on the note 'customer not happy with repair and to contact co-op'.

As I see it if I wanted a 'repaired' product I would purchase a 'factory repack' which it was not.

You are right that you are entitled to reject it for a full refund and demand a refund as long as a fault has been confirmed. Make sure they know you are rejecting it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 short term right to reject.

In addition to your legal rights you have Ebay and Paypal (30 days and 180 days respectively), eBay (or the seller) covers the return postage cost, Paypal doesn't but there is a £15 scheme for returns (returns on us).

As they have repaired it you no longer have a faulty product. If you didn't want the repair you should have refused and rejected it which was your right to do.

They may or may not play hardball with you and charge you to return it, only a call to them will give you the answer.

Edit to my post above, I didn't read that you have actually had the repair - have you? If you have then you can't use eBay or Paypal for a return for SNAD.

Apologies I read it as you refused the repair so the engineer wrote you were unhappy with a repair but can now see the previous two posters are correct and that the repair was carried out but noted that you were unhappy. That does mean that you have accepted the repair by allowing it to go ahead so won’t be able to reject it as you now have a working machine.

its hot unusual for retailers to send engineers around to confirm if a item is faulty, but you should have refused the repair

personally as long as its working i don't see the problem
