Does anyone know of any company that will allow me to have a US dollar prepaid credit card rather than a sterling and euro loaded card. It seems that as I am a UK resident I can not transfer US dollars from my UK based dollar account to a prepaid card as it has to be exchanged into sterling first thus defeating the whole point of having a dollar card. I have tried MONZO, Travelex, WEswap but to no avail and RESOLUT despite setting up an account with them are impossible to contact either by phone, email or through their support app which does not install me with confidence if I need to speal to someone if I get into difficulties when aborad!

I've used FairFX, albeit quite a while ago, which is also mentioned at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/prepaid-travel-cards, and Caxton FX used to be on that list too (which perhaps suggests it's no longer considered a best buy).0

The only prepaid card (in UK) that you can load directly in dollars is Revolut. Your bank may charge a fee for the transfer. Study the FAQs, available on the app, on how to do this and use it in general, make no mistakes and you won't need to contact them.Evolution, not revolution0

How about one of those travel money cards?
I'm no expert on them, but, I'm presuming you use them like a debit card.0 -
I have a revolut card, it was a PITA to setup, they wanted photo ID which i do not have.
They asked for silly things like a Citizenship card or identity card, i had to explain they do not have these in the UK.
The only photo ID would be a passport, i do not have one.
And a new style driving licence where i have an old paper one.
Eventually they relented as long as i credited some money from my bank account whicj i did anyway.
I had to go through this several times because they said you need to deposit £20? but that was above my limit until verified.
How do you verify if they wont let you deposit the money?
Eventually it went through though. Didnt have an issue contacting them through the app, they always responded fairly quickly. Making them understand the problem was a different matter.
Quite good conversion rates though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
