PPI Partial Success - Worth Chasing the Rejection?

Today had a letter back from a PPI claim against an Egg Card. They've upheld the Plevin part of the complaint but rejected the CRP Mis-sell, stating:
Given the above, personally I'd say it's down to the customer to determine what their strategy is and given that I was late teens and living at home at the time, it could not be considered unreasonable to expect support from family.
Do people think this is worth taking to the Ombudsman?
Thanks in advance!
...taking into account your circumstances at the time of the sale which are disclosed in your questionnaire, it is clear that you had limited other means at the time of protecting your repayments.
You stated in section D5 ... that you could not remember if you would have received pay from your employer if you were off work....
You stated in section D6 that you had limited other means of making your repayments if you were unable to work....
You have also stated ... family support however we have not seen any evidence from the time of the sale to indicate this was actually the case [ED: They haven't asked for any either!!]. Moreover,
we do not consider that financial assistance from family is in itself a credible strategy for customers...
As a result, I am not in a position to uphold this element of your complaint.

No, the Ombudsman does not consider possible family support as a reason for PPI to be inappropriate.0

If you make any new complaint points or provide more information then they should re-review the case. You're best exhausting all possibilities with Egg before going to the FOS.0

Do you really think the likelihood of your parents bailing you out negates the need for insurance? Your parents/family may well have been in a position to help in the event of your possible unemployment, but your insurance meant this would never be tested.phoenixegmh wrote: »I was late teens and living at home at the time, it could not be considered unreasonable to expect support from family.
Not mis-sold.
Enjoy your Plevin refund.0
