Car insuarance with Recovery.
I am looking for car insurance with recovery for my wife and on the basis that I obtained that for my motor caravan from an insurer recommended by the Camping and Caravanning Club I tried them but for some perverse reason they don't offer that service for cars.
I then tried NFU and found that they don't appear to have a web page that allows one to apply that way.
The next was Direct line and I telephoned them first to ask if they did a joint insurance and recovery to which they replied, "yes". I filled in the form and pressed the button to retrieve the quote but then had to fill in another form to register but did not have the code to fix that so I gave up. I did telephone them to ask if they could send me the quote but it appears that was past their ability level.
I was advised SAGA was worth a look but that was another high quote so they fell by the wayside.
So, can anyone advise me of an insurance organisation that offers a joint car insurance plus recovery at a cost that will not bankrupt me.

Why do you insist it has to be joint, is there a reason you won't entertain two separate policies?0

Because the customer is the most important factor in the relationship. They are simply the vender. They get paid to sell and I, the customer, pay their bill. If the company that I get my Motor Caravan insurance and recovery from can do it why can't other insurance companies? I resent having to spend time hunting for a new insurance every time it comes up for renewal and the insurance think they can get away with a sneaky increase so I want it to be as quick as possible.0

We used to have recovery included with both Esure & M&S car policies. Upon renewal we found it cheaper to get the recovery separately. Admittedly you have to haggle every year with more people but that's the way it is nowadays.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

"Normal" car recovery is essentially a commodity product, with a wide choice of suppiers, whereas caravan recovery is more specialist. The Camping and Caravanning Club have obviously identified a profitable niche market and are catering for it.
The other insurers have probably decided it's not worth the bother. The customer is indeed the most important factor in the relationship, but that doesn't mean he can dictate the product range. If you want to buy baked beans you don't go to a fishmonger.0 -
Duplicate insurance policies are never a good idea. if one has a limited claim exemption then they are not obliged to pay out in the event of a claim as the other insurer is responsible. if neither company has an exclusion clause they usually share the costs of a claim evenly. if both insurers have claim exemption clauses then neither one will accept responsibility and you may get nowt0

In the time it took you start this thread and ring up two difference insurance companies you could have used comparison sites and got two separate policies (one for insurance and one for recovery) for the best prices.
If you insist on having both from the same provider then it is likely that provider won't be the cheapest for either so you are going to be paying over the odds for both for no benefit at all. It literally takes 10 - 20 minutes a year to find the best motor insurance policy and recovery policy which could save you hundreds of pounds. If 10 - 20 minutes searching online really so bad that you would rather pay hundreds of pounds over the odds for insurance instead?0 -
LV - I was with Saga for 10 years but they wanted too much for renewal this year, I got exactly what you're looking for £230 cheaper than Saga from LV.0

even for your camper (depending on size) it may well be better to do it seperately. I'm also with CCC for insurance, it cost all of £35 to cover for recovery with the RAC and took as long as it's taken me to write this message to buy.0

Here is the answer that I received when I asked one provider why they decline to offer an insurance and recovery agreement.
"The reason that our insurance providers do not offer Car breakdown recovery policies, as an additional product is because of the partnership we have with the RAC."
So, stuff the membership of that organisation just so the organisation can cook up a cosy little deal with the RAC.0 -
Do a Google search for car insurance with breakdown insurance.0
