Simultaneous Nationwide Flexclusive Regular Saver 1 and 2

Options
I was surprised to able to open a Flexclusive Regular Saver 2 (£250 per month limit) while my Flexclusive Regular Saver (£500 per month) is still running. Has anyone else managed to do this?

Well, it's against their T&C's so it may well be closed when they notice.

If it let you open online, it goes down as another Building Society that seems to be unable to code its account opening processes to agree with its own T&C's!

"Please note: You can only be the first named account holder of one Regular Saver, Flexclusive Regular Saver or Flexclusive Regular Saver 2 account at any one time, which can be held in sole or joint names."

It will probably be shut down eventually - I think I went about 4 months before it was noticed.
Your money will be returned to the account it came from

  • Hi all,

I had a Flexclusive Regular Saver 1 via a joint current account, then in August I added a Saver 2 account via my solo current account. However I think they might have cottoned on as my payments into Saver 1 stopped and I can't find any trace of the standing order..!

So now Saver 1 has matured I would like to open another Saver 2 via the joint account but it won't let me because I already have one for the solo account, I assume there's no workaround for this?

The wording isn't very clear: "You can only be the first named account holder of one Regular Saver, Flexclusive Regular Saver or Flexclusive Regular Saver 2 account at any one time, which can be held in sole or joint names."

    Cheers
    Jon

The wording seems clear enough. If I had to explain it, I'd probably use the same words in the same order.

    a) you can only be the first named account holder of one RS, FRS or FRS2 account at any one time. That seems straightforward?

    b) The account can be in sole or joint names. That sounds straightforward?

Sole means just you. Joint means you and someone else. The first named account holder means the first account holder named on the account.

If it's Jon's account with nobody else, Jon is the first and only named account holder.

If it's Jon and Jane's joint account, Jon is the first of two named account holders

If it's Jane and Jon's joint account, Jane is the first of two named account holders

If it's Jane's account with nobody else, Jane is the first and only named account holder.

    So...

You said you have a Saver 2 account already, in your sole name, which you opened in August. Correct?

You would like to open another Saver 2 account, off a joint account. But you know there is a rule where you can only be the first named holder of ONE Saver 2 account. And you know you are already the first named holder of one Saver 2 account, because you remember opening that Saver 2 account in August, in your own name. So, it stands to reason that when you try to open a joint Saver 2 account, with your name first of the two joint names, it won't let you, because you can only be the first named holder of ONE Saver 2 account.

Based on their rules, your partner could open a Saver 2 account in their name if they do not already have one, or they could open a joint Saver 2 account with their name first. As such, you can in total have two accounts between two of you.
