Insurance Renewal - Declaring 'claims'?

Hi,

My insurance is up for renewal next month and in the past year I've had 2 incidents which I've informed the insurance company about, but I'm wondering if I need to declare these on new quotes with future insurers (For example on comparison sites)

1. I had a small chip out of the windscreen which was repaired by Autoglass and I paid an excess of £25. Do I need to inform comparison sites/future insurers of this or not?

2. I had a incident where a part of the load of a flatbed truck hit the front of my car causing cosmetic damage, I had dashcam footage and the other party's company admitted liability, asked me to get a quote and then went through their insurance to arrange getting it repaired and a hire car. Once complete I did inform my insurance company, except for that I did not touch my insurance policy at all.

Thanks for your time.

You must declare glass claims if asked..
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

    this is correct
  • You had a windscreen crack and informed your insurance company. You had an accident which was the other person's fault and they paid for the damage and yet you told your insurer...

Not too sure whether to admire or laugh at your honesty.

Or you could just admire the fact the OP doesn't want to commit insurance fraud.

Having my license for coming upto 2 years - I don't fancy the hassle of legal issues & fraud etc. I've told my insurance company just to cover my backside

Seriously, do you have any idea how insurance companies work?

One department takes your money, they don't care what you tell them they just want your money.

When it comes to claims then another dept takes over, they go through everything. Insurance companies talk to each other, if you have even a minor bump that wasn't your fault and failed to tell them then your claim is void for everything but the third party. They then chase you for that.
