Anyone here prefer to use two smaller beds pushed together?
Is the join where the beds meet noticeable?
Any pros or cons over one larger bed?

I've slept in several beds where it was two singles pushed together; none were a particularly enjoyable experience.0

I guess if you have no intention of going near your partner it might be OK.0 -
Many king & especially superking beds have separate mattresses. Many are in fact two beds linked together. All our beds are like this & we never have any problems. Ours are zip-linked but we don't bother doing up the zips.
If you fancy superking don't forget they are longer as well as wider.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
We have a kingsized bed at home. It's an Ottoman bed. Two bases fixed together but a single kingsized mattress on top. Works fine.
I've slept in hotels where it's clearly two beds and two mattresses pushed together albeit with a kingsize duvet - it feels very uncomfortable to sleep in, to snuggle and to have sex in.0 -

Two smaller beds are easier to separate and push to opposite sides of the room when you've had a row
The main advantage might be the possibility of having different firmness matresses if that is a big issue.
Otherwise the join is really annoying and very impractical if the two bases aren't fixed together and start moving apart. This can be partially overcome by using a thick fitted matress protector which holds the matresses together and softens the 'ridge' effect of the seams where the matresses meet.
But if no real need for two beds/matresses, then one large one is far more preferable"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
We seem to have a slight difference in answers.
I think two small doubles joined would be 7'11 wide versus 6'6 for a super king.
The join is definitely a major factor. I slept on two joined beds at a hotel and it was very nice, but I guess if not zip linked it could be a different matter.
I was also thinking of ease of moving around house and price."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
A UK superking is 6' wide by 6'6" long. It's different in other countries.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

It's ideal for a guest room where you could have a couple staying one month and two different family members another.0

A memory foam mattress topper might do a decent job of stopping you feeling the join on two separates.Officially in a clique of idiots0
