O/S Daily Tuesday 24 October 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, an easy bung in the oven meal was needed after the day we had. Had a text just as I was leaving the house to say boss wasn't coming in to work, so had to do the 2 person job on my own before we opened and then get someone else to check it, once at work someone else didn't arrive so we rang the management and that person is off sick all week, added to the fact we have 2 people off on hols too. The company that look after the fire alarms/emergency lighting arrived to do the routine checks and then said we had to have a fire alarm evacuation as we hadn't had one for a while, just prior to this someone fed some sort of money into the machine and it stopped working ... and of course we were 2 people short .... all of this before 10.30am Monday morning. Needless to say I had a banging head when I got home last night as I was dehydrated and I'd needed to stop off at the parcel sorting office as had a signed for parcel delivered to our house but it's not for us, but the address shown is ours, needed to buy milk, and bread too and on the way home after our manic Monday needed to buy new bulbs for the kitchen - which I then couldn't find, so needed assistance and nearly cpr after the shock of the price 2 x bulbs £10! In fairness my kitchen now is very bright looks like Blackpool Illuminations.

So last night was just a very quiet watching tv, spent some time on here, then chilled. Hoping today won't be as manic but should be better as we have another member of staff and hopefully boss will be back, we'll see. It's my early finish day today - hopefully I will get to come home early.

Keep safe and well x

Thanks for starting us off nmlc.

Hoping Frank makes a speedy recovery JackieO.

Not very nice outside at the moment, still I'll get wet in the pool anyway. Washing to be done when I get home tonight, DW will probably need to go on too.

Your poor DS tru, what an awful time for him.

Not very much happening here, hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off nmlc.

I’ve just remembered to get the rubbish out, the dustmen come early around here and I was worried I may have missed them, although they have been a little later since it has been darker in the mornings. Just realised it’s 6.30am not 7,30am :o.

Nothing that has to be done today, which is just as well as I’m struggling with life at the moment and had a really difficult day yesterday. I’ve not said anything before but I am suffering from depression and agoraphobia and am being treated by the local Mental Health Services.

I don’t want to bring you all down so I’ll just say have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. An all sorts day forecast for us - early rain, then cloud, then some sun, then back to rain! And 16 deg wow!

The saga of the dead mossy drive continues. We finally attacked it yesterday, taking it in turns with the stiff broom but it was hard going. Where's the power washer when you need it? Answer - it's been in the garage since DD borrowed it and managed to reduce it's flow to a single weak jet!! We got all down the side of the garage scrubbed before calling it a day and have decided we will do the rest a little at a time as and when weather permits. And maybe get a new power washer!

Mr TA has his flu jab booked for 1.30 so we are going to treat ourselves to a late lunch somewhere afterwards whilst out and about. Probably a 'Spoons Steak Day meal - we know how to live it up!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the sad, worried or poorly who want them. Pleased to hear Frank is doing as well as he can JACKIE. He sounds a delightful old chap. Take care all xx

Cross posting HOLLY so an extra ((HUG)) for you.

    Morning all

Too dark to see what the weather is doing but it does not sound like rain, off to work for me and its half term so could be a manic week.

Got some mince out for dinner tonight, not sure what to do with it yet it will probably be spag bol as that seems to be our default mince dish.

Yesterday we went to look at kitchen floors :o not the most thrilling day out ever but we found something we both like, which is a laminate floor but looks like tiles, I wanted tiles but we cant have them due to whats under the flooring now, tbh I switched off but there is a reason we had to have laminate, anyway all decided so just need to order now.

DD is out tonight so its just OH and I for dinner and I must put a wash on too.

Glad to hear the op went well for Frank, I shall be thinking of him over the next few days x

Holly I am sorry to hear you have bee through it recently, its good you have seen someone about it, and I am glad you have been managing to get out for a walk some days, fresh air really does help, hugs to you xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all.

I've been following these threads for quite some time but am usually not quite compus mentus enough to join in when I wake up. However, I did not have to be up so early today as I have a medical appointment before work this morning - but the cat wasn't to know when he woke me up mewing on the other side of the bedroom door! I hauled myself out of bed and let him in, and as he was fussing around me and 'kissing' me, thought I'd see just how early he had got me up on my phone. No luck there as my phone had run out of battery, so instead of potentially oversleeping as I had set my mobile alarm, I had a kitty alarm clock.

After the Doctors, it'll be another busy day at work.

    Morning :hello:

    Welcome creative gal:coffee: :D

Mr tru is off to Austria later. 11 people are going, and in his wisdom he decided to take on the job of booking everything. Flights, hotel, car hire and insurance because the basic insurance you get with the cars is rubbish. Except he's never booked any of this before, so he didn't have a clue what he was doing and kept trying to get me to do it. I've never done it either (package holiday is my limit, lol) but he got annoyed when I wouldn't, specially when others volunteered in the first place but he insisted he'd do it. I've had weeks of listening to moaning and sighing, then I lost my rag three days ago when he realised there was no luggage allowance and he had to pay for 11 peoples worth on our debit card. He'll get it back eventually, but that's come out of our bank account! I'm looking at the next few days as payment for the last few weeks of stress, lol.

I don't know exactly what I'm going to do for the next four days but I'm going to treat the house as a spa. I'm not really into girly things like that so I have no idea where to start but I'm definitely going to do something :D Also I'll consult my book on selling craft things and organising supplies because I seem to have lost my way – again, lol.

    Tru, enjoy your 'spa'.

I went to bed really early last night because I was aching all over. I'm thoroughly fed up with lurching from one ailment to the next without a break.

I hope I'm ok for today because sis-in-law is here and we've booked too go to Kensington Palace. She wants to see Diana's dresses. I'm not a fan of the royal family but hopefully will enjoy the fashion, although I assume most of them will be from the decade style forgot (80's). we get on well though so it will be a good day.

She's here till Friday and then we'll drop her at the train in MK and we've booked a night visit to Bletchley Park where they promise to treat us as recruits to the WW2 codebreaking establishment. Hopefully it will be fun.

    Morning everyone,

Thinking of you Holly please be assured we are here for you.
    Welcome CreativeGal.

Dry here and relatively warm, need to quickly pop into town soon as a friend is picking me up later to go and see our other friend who recently had an op. It was a nasty one and not the first bless her heart.
Other than that it will be time with Lulu this afternoon, hopefully it will stay dry and we can get out and about.
Not sure what's for tea, something with goats cheese as that's what's in the fridge!

Have a good day folks x

    Morning everyone.

Still grey and wet outside. Not actually raining just now though it’s coming again. All the fields have standing water as high tide means it can’t get away.

Yesterday was tiresome. I was given the wrong time for my teaching session and ended up waiting for an hour until the correct time. That meant I didn’t finish until 6pm and then had the two hour drive home. And one of the students, who wasn’t there on my first week, had extremely challenging behaviour.

This morning I’m teaching again, hopefully it’ll be smooth as the students are doing one assessment which means they’ll be writing for the whole session. Same with tomorrows group.

I’ll root in the freezer for some protein and visit the shops for vegetables, can’t do much more Savoy cabbage. Wonder if it can be frozen? Probably not.

    Welcome to creative gal.

I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Tuesday all round.
