Hi

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who has recently taken over a full time care duty.

Basically they've applied for Carers but they are saying that someone else was claiming, now after weeks names were revealed after parties agreeing to it.
Both have now said that the new person who has claimed should get the benefit.

Since signing an returning the forms, they've heard nothing.
Now I know there's a back log, but she's recently stopped part time work and is relying on this being sorted.

How long will it take for them to set this claim up?

Also, what happens after the forms have been received and both parties agree to the new claiming receiving it?

It could be anything up to 12 weeks. It all depends on the backlog in the area, no one can really tell you how long it's going to be. If they don't hear anything in 8 weeks then i'd advice to ring Carers and find out what's happening.
