I just checked the weights of a dozen large eggs from Aldi because the last couple of boxes looked small when I opened them.
Turns out 5 out of 12 should be classified as medium, with 2 at 60, 2 at 61 and one at 62 gm. I took the boxes from a newish pack, low down, and I don’t think anyone could have been swapping the eggs around. The others were 63gm or a bit above
I’m going to make a conscious effort to look more carefully next time and complain at the time.

I often get mine from there and they always seem massive. Did you weigh in or out of shell?0 -
In the shell. I looked up the required standards and large eggs in the UK should be at least 63 gmDownshifted

I wish I had enough time in my day to weigh my eggs and be disgruntled at a 1-2gm differenceLiving in a superhero induced haze :A:A

I think some people are being rather harsh. If you pay extra for large eggs then you should get large eggs.
I've not weighed mine but I've noticed for the last year that the large eggs at Tesco and Waitrose look smaller than they used to.0 -

As I was in the kitchen cooking tea for the little Hinges I weighed our Aldi Large eggs.... well the ones we have left.... 3x 64gm 3x 67gms and 2x71gms
even if the missing 2 weighed under 63gms each we would still be well up on the grams required front!Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A

I buy the boxes of 10 - and the other day I did weigh them all - not to check they were officially large, just to see how much they weighed so I could put them into weight order.... I need a better hobby.
Of the 7-8 I weighed, two were 55 grams....
I'd never thought about the weight of them and being called large as, for me, an egg's an egg and I pick one on size based on what I'm planning and whether I'd prefer to have the biggest one in the box (for soldiers), or the smallest one in the box....
Maybe I should weigh them from now on .... but, if everybody complained, do you know what'd happen? The box price would go up by 10p0
