I was hoping that someone could possibly help me out, I was wondering if I would be eligible for any compensation from my bank. So for the past week I've had problems with my bank account, firstly my debit card kept getting declined therefore I rang up and it turns out the there was a block on the card, so I asked if them to remove the block but what they did instead was CANCEL the card. So I've had to order a new card. In the mean time I've still been able to use my online banking. I deposited some money into my account and then tried to make a payment on my online banking but it turns out they put a block on that aswell. So within the past week I've had blocks on my online account twice. I was hoping to see if I would be eligible for any sort of compensation seen as it has caused major inconvenience and has meant I've had go back and forth from ringing up to going to my local branch only for the problem to still not yet be resolved.

You are probably better off starting a new thread rather than dragging an unrelated old one up from well over a year ago.
You need to complain to the bank, either over the phone or in writing, and ask for however much compensation you feel the inconvenience is worth. We don't know all the facts.urs sinserly,

Ditto start your own thread.
...But if the bank thought that your card had been compromised or used fraudulently then I think cancelling the old card and ordering a new one would have been the prudent thing to do.
If you want compo for them to look after your funds go for it - but to resolve the problem the quickest way to unlock your account would be to go to a branch with photo ID - they can phone the department with you.0 -
Make a formal complaint, and actually explain exactly what inconvenience this has caused you. Have you lost out financially? Have you had to take time off work, have you had to spend hours sorting it out? If so, come to a determination about what those things are worth to you, and put it to your bank when making the complaint.
Whereas if you're just a bit annoyed at them, and in total have had no work interference, no financial loss, you're just a bit peeved you've had to call them a few times, I'd say you might just get the bod standard £25 if you're lucky.0 -
