Has she tried going outside and walking round the building, when the noise is noticeable? That might help narrow it down.

I stayed there last night, was a 'good' night apparently, until 6am this morning. It literally feels like your bed is moving. We all woke at the same time and went outside to have a check around. Only her neighbour's lights were on and he left for work at 6.30.

The children are coming to stay with me for a couple of days next week to get some rest.

We were thinking if it were his water heating up it would have been earlier than 30 mins before he left wouldn't it? Must be water usage? It carried on right up until he left.
  • I have a similar problem, it is the macerator connected to the neighbours toilet.

I think we're going to need more information to be able to help any further.

    - What kind of a flat is it? Age, construction, purpose-built or converted, overall type and size of the building?

    - Is it owned or rented? Social housing or private landlord?

    - Is there a professional management company or is it share of freehold?

Ultimately, I think your friend will need professional assistance to track down the noise and possibly remedy it. Where that comes from, and how much it will cost depends on the answers to the questions above.

Interesting. She says the outflow pipe from her neighbour's bathroom is dripping, but we don't know if that means anything.

Apparently it was built in 1993, purpose built, private landlord, she rents.

No management company. She's waiting for her landlord to get back to her. Her neighbour makes light of it and says it's not coming from him, so she is hoping the landlord can speak to him.
