Exhaust Q: volume of having a straight through pipe

I know - it's a public forum & we can say what we want, but if you can't answer the question then genuine question to you - what was the point?
This is why i opted against it when i got my stainless system. That's the kind of thing i wanted to avoid. I also avoided huge tail pipes (i guess 3" may be large to some) because i didn't want anything like DT described in their first post. Right now i just have a nice low tone rumble but not what i would consider loud at all. Mine is perfectly fine on the motorway. I could handle louder but it depends how much. I don't think i could go too much louder tbh as i'm already close to my limit on it.
I'll call our mechanic tomorrow and get it booked in for a standard change.
No one can answer your question specifically, as naturally loud to one is not loud to another, however your final line suggests that you may have taken note of part of my reply so it is of some help as others have hinted also that it can/will diminish the driving experience especially on longer drives.0 -

My comment was actually more about your opening post which i found to be pointless.
Your second and third posts were at least worth something.0 -

Well, yes it may have been pointless to you (at this time) , often a lot of posters want responses that they want to read other than what they really need to read, and of course your question could also be relevant to others that may wish to pose a similar question. :cool:0 -

Things like this & what i've found in other sections of the message board, i don't particularly care what is said, it's more how it's said for me if you get me? There's plenty of ways to say just one thing & i'm sure you'll have seen me having 1-2s with people as i've seen your name a number of times on my threads. Someone can say one thing in a pleasant way or they can say the exact same thing with needless attitude. It's the one with attitude that i personally can't stand as i never open a thread having attitude with others. When ever you trace it back through the thread you'll always find where it originated & unless there was a time i've forgotten about then it'll always come back to someone responding with attitude where they could've said the exact same thing in a pleasant way & everything would've been fine.
So it's not what is said. I can handle things that i 'don't want to hear' as some may put it all day long. No problem. We can discuss it at length, no problem. It's about how it's put across. No need for rudeness and after i tried treating people how i'd like to be treated i found it didn't work out so well so i just treat people how they treat me now. It's much better that way
Like your post then. You weren't being funny towards me so i'm fine with you alsoSome people here don't grasp that though.

To be fair, I've gone back and re-read post#2 twice and I don't detect any aim or attitude, or certainly not to anyone on this thread.
One respondant did give a mature answer that it adds a little character to his car.
You did mention a little snippet about a colleague at work now banned, on the contrary in my office the 'kids' there got their GTR's and VXR's chipped them etc it was only months before they switched to 'sensible' motoring or more sedate.0 -

My issue with post #2 was really that as i read it it read that you were just complaining about people who have loud cars & the comment about what others are thinking. I've read enough posts in this forum from the anti-modification brigade and wondered if you were a member too or not. I wasn't sure. I also don't particularly care what others think of me apart from a very small few.
So no it didn't have attitude, i just felt you were going off on what your own personal opinion was of modifications. If i was wrong about that then i'm not too big to apologise for it.0 -

To be fair MSE was going long before you joined and may do so long after you cease to visit, however there is no need to apologise as the world is filled with different people and different opinions, I couldn't complain about what people wish to do with their belongings, especially as I do not have to pay for them and more so it doesn't affect my daily life.0 -

However there is no need for rudeness. People can disagree, no problem. People can offer advice, no problem. People can answer a question and state facts pointing out where the other person has gone wrong ... all of that is no problem.
But there's a way to do it & it really isn't difficult. Manners and politeness, they cost nothing. Attitude & rudeness is unnecessary.
Unfortunately it happens a lot here. Maybe it's the keyboard & monitor effect where because someone can't be seen they feel the need to be a bit more of an A-hole whereas if they had the same conversation in person with someone they would respond differently. They may say the same thing basically but it wouldn't be so rude.
Thankfully there are others who aren't like that to balance things out.0
