CEL PCN Query

Hi there,
Newbie alert! I'll try to keep this brief. I stopped at a car park back in July on Greenwich High Road to get something to eat, having stopped there a few times in the past. Didn't buy a ticket (naughty I know) as I was only there for a short while. Lo and behold, they have now fitted cameras, and we have now received 3 PCNs, 1 for my van, 2 for my wife's car. About 5 years ago I received a PCN, and having read a number of forums, ignored all the threatening letters, and after a while, never heard anything more. I have read different current threads, and am under the impression that the law has now changed. If so, what is new? We have received the first 'letter before action' and my wife is freaking out about it. So my question is quite simply what would happen if I continued to ignore threats from Civil Enforcement Limited? I would prefer not to have appeal anything against these people as A. from where I sit, to interact with them would legitimise the operations of these modern day highwaymen, and B. we have a disabled daughter who takes up most of our time and energy. P.S. I am normally a law abiding citizen, Honest Guv. Advice please?
