  • i have a craft shop on etsy.com too and although it is a newish site in recent years it is growing huge worldwide. it is US based and in dollars so you need to know how to work out your price in those and your postage rates too. (quite easy by using an exchange site and downloading UK postage rate from GPO) You have to register and have a means to have payments made to you through a credit card/paypal account.Although other payments can be asked but risky outside UK for cheques etc: The nice bit is you get 5 photos of your item/s and a good write up space and all for 20c per item for 4 months. The rules are it should be handmade by you, or supplies or vintage. ideally hand made is the main idea of the site. They have a forum section to join in on and chat room and there is a nice atmosphere among the sellers and buyers. Jewelery is a huge craft on it , probably the biggest section so expect lots of competition. Even if you don't decide to sell there it is still a nice gift buying site.
  • Hi Lydia,

I used to do a few local country shows, that kind of thing, with a friend as a teen ;) Mainly just beaded jewellery, nothing too technically advanced to make!

I think the most we paid for a table for the day was £40... but that was um.... 15 years ago??

I think most of the time we broke even, even made a bit of profit occasionally! :D It probably helps if you look a bit older than 15... ;)
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • I have a shop on etsy and whilst it is a really lovely site, nothing much shifts.I think it may be better for sellers based in the US. It's a real pity because ebay is crap for selling hand-made items. If anyone knows of a web-site which does work for craft selling, I'd love to know about it!
  • I think I will try one more car boot sale actually - I have some other tat I also want to get rid of - thanks for all your ideas

Do your local schools groups etc run "ladies nights"????

Ours do and have all sorts of stalls full of ladies stuff - clothes, bath stuff, hand made jewellery etc!!!

Maybe it is worth ringing around a few to see! especially with xmas coming up!!!
