Have I Overpaid Rent

Hi everyone!
I was on a periodic rental agreement running from the 19th each month to the 18th of the following month. I gave notice to move out on 15/09/2017, I paid 1 months rent on 19/09/2017 and moved out on 21/09/2017.
As far as I know this should have been it as my notice period would have ended on 18/10/2018. However, being forgetful, I forgot to cancel my standing order and another months rent has been paid on 19/10/2018.
Am I correct that this is an over payment and that I have right to claim it back?
Thanks!

When you have notice you should have received an acknowledgement. If your dates are correct then you have overpaid. It was your responsibility to stop your SO. I would suggest speaking to your bank to recall the payment. Failing that speak to the L.A. or 'LL wherever the money has gone. Put your request for its return in writing.0

Yeah I got an acknowledgement. And everything went smoothly tbh. No issues with deposit being returned or anything. I realize it's my mistake.
I wanted to comfirm that my understanding of the dates is correct and I actually have a valid argument when I request my money back.
Thanks for the reply0 -
Only you (& LL/LA) know if you've overpaid rent! Few questions to think about to help:
A) How many months have you lived there (including up to the end of the notice)
How much was the monthly rent?
C) How much have you paid in total?
Is A x B = or < or > C?0 -
What a load of rubbish....HampshireH wrote: »When you have notice you should have received an acknowledgement. If your dates are correct then you have overpaid. Assuming you are in England, and pay rent monthly, your notice period commenced on 15th Sept. A full tenancy period would therefore be from 19th Sept to 18th Oct. Your notice therefore expired on 18/10/17.beerpongsupernova wrote: »Hi everyone!

The date you 'moved out' (21.9/17) is irrelevant.
The rent you paid on 19/10 was presumably an over-payment.However, being forgetful, I forgot to cancel my standing order and another months rent has been paid on 19/10/2018.

This assumes
* no arrears
* previously paid rent was on 19/9/17 and covered 19/9 - 18/10
Request the overpayment back in writing - politely!0
