Chimney problems

We have a problem in that our chimney stack is in need of repair - it really needs taking down and rebuilding - however, it is joint with our next door neighbour (we have two flues each)
We, obviously don't intend to pay fot the whole lot - but can't just take down half of the structure and next door are not interested in paying for their half....
What is the best way to proceed ?

http://www.partywall.info/my-neighbour-is-doing-work.html the chimney breast appears to be - no mention specifically of the stack though !!sevenhills wrote: »Are chimneys included in the party wall act; someone will know.
How much am I looking at to rebuild an approx 2feet stack?0 -
Probably £5-600 for scaffold and then a brickie and labourer for a couple of days, so another £5-600 and a few quid for materials, assuming mainly using the same bricks0
