Hi
Can anyone please help ???
This is so annoying. I have a Samsung smart tv. I keep getting picture loss on channels 101 to 105 only. HD channels. Signal strength is 70% max. All other channels are 90% plus. What can I do to resolve this?
I live about 3 miles away from the sutton coldfield transmitter. The problem is only on these 5 channels.
Thankyou

I occasionally have the same problem normally in windy weather caused by distant trees. I suspect HD channels need a better signal. I use the SD channels when its a problem.
Signal quality is possibly more important than signal strength.0 -
On Sutton coldfield these are all on C40+. Plus means with 166khz offset.
For C40 It shouldn't matter if you have a local grouped aerial or wideband.
I would try:
Updating TV firmware to latest
Complete initial/re-scan of all digital channels making sure you select your region for Sutton Coldfield correctly.
Frequency is due to change for these channels on Sutton Coldfield in march next year.0 -
Could be the tuner in the TV, we were getting patchy signals on some channels, swapped the TV and no more problems.
Not a single glitch/block on the picture.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
OK this is even more weird now. Picture signal quality drops down to 30% only in the evenings. On my main samsung tv the quality is still 100% on the same channel. Something is affecting the humax tuner on channels 101 to 105 evenings only. You will have to be Einstein to work this one out !!
It cannot be weather related or trees as last night was a perfectly clear night with no wind. This is beyond me.0 -
Install wifi analyser on your phone, does wifi traffic increase substantially when your TV signal drops?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Thanks for your reply. Will install it and report back. Thanks again.0

Sorry for the delay getting back as it has been fine last few days. But signal quality now down to 30% at 2130 hrs. The latest software is installed and I have just turned the router off to see if that was the cause but no luck. No idea what this could be now.0

Have you checked that it is actually tuned to the Sutton Coldfield transmitter? Our Samsung has a habit of sometimes tuning into signals from the wrong transmitter which are transmitted on an adjacent channel to the wanted channel. I tried checking to see whether I could tell it to ignore certain channels but ended up just pulling the aerial cable out once it had tuned into the wanted channels.0

As per one of the other replies, I would check you really are tuned to your local transmitter. With a Humax box in East Yorkshire (not much above sea level), I’ve seen transmitters in Lancashire, Tyne Tees area and Isle of Man. I usually fit an attenuator in the aerial lead and do a full tune to eliminate the weaker signals.
Some TVs/recorders seem better than others at picking the “best” signals...
Item 112081314615 on eBay is the type. Remove it once the box has scanned and stored the stations.0
