Looking for stylish armchair that will convert into a temporary bed

An incident meant OH was unable to walk and climb stairs for a couple of weeks.
Is there an adaptable armchair (perhaps without arms) of a reasonable height which will adapt to a temporary comfortable bed in a living room in case this happens again.
Any leads to any suitable suppliers please?

There are Lazeeboy type chairs that recline, but aren't exactly stylish. They are also quite expensive.
Single futons are cheaper and come without arms, if you so wish, but are not elegant. You also need to fold and unfold according to need.
Otherwise, think about an inflatable air bed. The higher end ones inflate to bed height and are designed for use as spare beds rather than as camping bases. Just plug the pump into a socket, and voila. They also pack away into small bags, so easily stored out of sight.0 -
Lots in John Lewis website

Cheaper ones from ikea and Argos (go to their sites and search for chairbed)0 -
Be careful with recliner chairs as they don't usually recline flat.

Wherever you get one from - be careful to check the width of the mattress.
I got a stylish one some time back (from Sofa Workshop in my case). It wasnt cheap. Then I started trying to use it - and the mattress was only 2'6" wide!!!!
On checking - it does seem to be very much the norm for chairbeds to only have such narrow mattresses. I'd taken it as read that a "single bed" one would have a "single bed width" mattress. Errrrm.....nope. Not unless one counts the "old" "single bed width" of 2'6" as matching that - but most of us these days understand single bed width to be 3'.
My feeling is that you'll have to get a narrowest width sofa-bed (rather than chair-bed) and then the mattress will be wide enough for one person.0 -
A z bed would be cheaper and probably more comfortable than the cheaper foam chair beds.0
