BT says warranty is void because item purchased through Amazon

Thanks. Yes, I am starting to get this idea - if that is the case, it sheds a different light on trying to get bargains. I've been researching these wi-fi extenders and there is no end of suppliers who are selling these units at a lower price than BT.
So, effectively, buying this item from Amazon reduces the purchaser's rights from a 3-year warranty to whatever Amazon decides are their T&C's ..
Not true at all. A manufacturers warranty is in addition to your legal rights and they can impose whatever terms, caveats, exclusions etc that they wish. You have the right to seek redress from the seller for up to 6 years.0 -

You get whatever warranty is mentioned on the site you buy it from. Amazon are usually very good at dealing with faulty items even after longer periods of time so i would contact them and wouldn't be too concerned if any BT warranty didn't apply.
The warranty could be one of the benefits of buying direct from BT and could be one reason they charge more for the items.
But you can't complain about this because you only get what is mentioned on the website you buy it from, in this case amazon.0 -

Just to add, its 6 years from purchase under english law (5 years from discovery in scotland).
But with amazon not being in the UK and instead being governed by the laws of luxembourg, that period is just 2 years when buying from them.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I did look on the Amazon page for this item and there is no mention of the warranty anywhere on the page. I also Googled for Amazon warranty policy and didn't get very far.
Have now managed to send an email to Amazon and will come back with an update.
Luckily this item was sold by Amazon (not an Amazon marketplace seller), otherwise it could be even more complicated.(Nearly) dunroving0 -
