Now what??
Having not received any further correspondence from Lowell since December, when they acknowledged my prove it letter, they have now managed to get my mobile number and have sent me a text!!!! They have not tried ringing yet.
I am ignoring this.
I still dispute this is mine, but how have they got my number. It's a bit worrying.
Any ideas?. Cheers all. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
I would write and flatly deny any debt is owed. I would also tell them to cease all contact.0

That's what we thought, but it would seem to corroborate their text if i now sent another letter, due to the timing. i.e. the text has prompted me to write again, so i must have got the text. IYSWIM.
Will probably leave it a few weeks and then write again.
In the meantime, do you think it's worth requesting a SAR from Shop Direct (Littlewoods) who they say the original account was with?
At this moment i'm more concerned with how they got my mobile number!!!:eek:How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
There could be a number of ways they got your number - these companies have tracing agents whose sole job it is to track down consumers, they will utilise social media and any other information that is in the public domain - some people have contact details on LinkedIn, online CVs etc0

Do not send a SAR to the original creditor. You can only ask for information about you and they don't have information on you.
Send a SAR to the outfit hounding you.0 -

My thinking is that as Shop Direct don't have any information about me, then they would have to confirm that in writing, so i'd know 110% that it's not something I should be worried about.
No further contact attempted today, so will continue to ignore for the time being. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
They can ask for proof if I.D to process a SAR which you may not want to give them. If you are happy to provide proof of I.D then it's an avenue you can go down.
When are these alleged debts from? They may be statute barred so an easy solution may be just to tell them they are chasing a statute barred debt and in light of that now stop.0 -
Apparently the original agreement was from 2010. They are saying the statement balance is owing as of Nov 18.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

Then they are statute barred. Tell them to stop.0

Will continue to ignore.
