Ex FMRC cars on dealer forecourts

Could be a former Ford Privilege car, which is for current and former employees of Ford, and companies associated with Ford.
There is a few things about it on this website http://www.hendyfordprivilege.co.uk/
My own car was a former Privilege car. The V5 though did name a real person as the former keeper and not a company.0 -
There was a guy over on Pistonheads who was quite smug about his year old 3 series main dealer purchase as he had been told that the car had been a demonstrator however "had only been offered on test drives to the most discerning customers, pre-vetted and previously known by the sales manager".....
'Been driven by a director of the company, fine upstanding citizen, member of Round Table, just used to carry his golf clubs about', etc etc. I took it with a pinch of salt (obviously), but I didn't check the V5 until after purchase, and was quite surprised when I Googled 'ERAC'.
As I said, no problem as the car was fine, but lesson learned. I expected better. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
I'm tempted to walk, vikingaero, but the car seems to be in good condition, the price isn't bad (when looking at Auto Trade, HPI valuations etc) and the mileage is low.
Trouble is, it's one of those situations where you think to yourself, 'This is too good to be true', which means it probably is!
Another dealer we spoke with at the weekend immediately produced the V5, service book, full HPI certificate (which he re-ran whilst we were there). Unfortunately, the car isn't as good as the other other one.
The other bit of BS we've had is the salesman saying the V5 is with their head office in Outer Mongolia, really difficult to get hold of, will delay the sale etc. We were assured that the head office would send it to the DVLA for us which would save us time etc. We said fine, but we want to see a scanned copy before we agree to the sale. Another hacked off salesman bites the dust!0 -
Thanks for the link, tim9966 - that's really helpful and interesting.
Out of interest, as the V5 named the person, how did you know it was an ex Ford Privilege?0 -
The dealer had the paperwork showing that's where the car had come from when the car was brand new.
I've now had the car for 2 1/2 years and everything has been fine. Thanks for the link, tim9966 - that's really helpful and interesting.
