Afternoon all. Storm Brian finally arrived after lunch. We have had rain and wind all afternoon, though not quite as windy as expected. It's a bit chilly too so I have been ensconced by the fire reading. DS called to collect a spare microwave we had stashed away in the garage, waiting for emergency use! His had gone with a bang so I guess this is the emergency!
Chicken fillets defrosting for tea. I am doing them in a maple syrup glaze which sounded rather tasty. I shall time it to be ready for Strictly time. I am also looking forward to the mini series "Gunpowder" starting later tonight. It was filmed in a specially constructed set about a mile downhill from us. Most of the outside locations, ruins and National Trust properties are local too, making it all the more interesting to watch for us!
DD and the girls are at the caravan until Thursday so I hope this horrible weather isn't due to last long and they can get out and about a bit. They will be nice and cosy inside with the heating on but you can only sit and play games or watch dvd's for so long!
Have a nice evening folks and take care. NANNYWINDOW I hope you feel better soon. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hi chums well the armageddon that was supposed to hit us hasn't happened thank goodness, although it was a bit breezy earlier on. I TiVoed Gunpoder and will watch it all in one go I think.
Quiz night was fun and we came sixth out of sixteen teams so wasn't too bad really.
DD messaged me to say her Pa-in-law was taken into hospital in the early hours with a blockage in his stomach and is poorly .Very worrying bless him as he is 86 with a dodgy ticker He has had a CT scan tonight and they are waiting for the results at the moment .My thoughts are with him and the family and my DD and son-in-law as they are in the U.S. until the end of next week. Frank is a lovely chap, and very alert and always cheerful, and his wife Margaret, of 62 years is just as chirpy as well. I have everything crossed for them at the moment .
The charity square sewing has gone well today and I managed to get around 30 sewn together. My sofa is covered in piles of squares so its going to be quite a task get them all done ,but its in a good cause.
Hope you are all safe and ry and no one has had any damage done with the weather
Cheers chums
