O/S Daily Saturday 21st October 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Welcome Jenny - we're a friendly bunch x
Still dark here, getting blustery but not cold.
DH and myself enjoying peaceful cuppas, I'm working this morning, so I'm showered and dressed, having just eaten my brekkie.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans/salad for the menfolk, I had mushroom omelette and salad to use up some eggs and mushrooms. Tonight I'm not sure, but I have got duck in hoisin sauce, so if we have that we'll go down the rice and noodles route. We were talking about having a takeaway pizza - we have a little place in the next village that makes their own pizzas, and they are superb, much better than anywhere else locally and the big name places we have and so much cheaper. Tomorrow's lunch will be either chicken or pork loin.
DS2 said last night he felt better than he has done, although he's far from right, I've said he perhaps should stay away from the gym for a day or 2 to let his body rest as he was going to catch a lift with me this morning when I go into work and go to the gym, I said maybe have yesterday, today, Sunday and Monday off and start back Tuesday - it's half term this week. He then thought this was a good idea.
Yesterday I got the food shopping done, and also did the ironing, and some jobs on the pc so then was able to spend some time researching recipes etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all and welcome JennyP. I am sorry to read about your father's death. This is a very supportive thread when you are sad or worried.
Yesterday was my day off and normally I get going on the Friday Tidy but I ended up getting a load of work done, I'm sure supplying me with a laptop and a wheeled thingy to transport it in was a fiendish plot. More work today, my friend is calling in tomorrow and I think she's going to come in to a very grubby house.
I've got a stye on my right eyelid, I look so very fetching. I'll rub it with a gold ring, that mostly works, never sure if it is the rubbing or the gold that works.
Yet another wet day, no chance of pegging the washing out and it is drying indoors but not as fast as I want it to.
I meant to tell you about my bargain of the week. I went to Home Barg#ins for a specific brand of shampoo, out of which they had run. But I spotted a JML ped-egg bare nails set, battery operated buffer, nail file, hard skin remover etc, they are meant to cost £14.99 and were on sale for 99p. So that will be a useful present for someone. Possibly I should have bought more than one.
I need breakfast, toast and marmite is calling me.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start nmlc.
Welcome JennyP, I lost my darling Mum earlier this year and this lovely bunch were extremely supportive to me x
Wild and windy here at the moment, just enjoying the first cuppa of the day and then will head out to the yard to see to Lulu, I woke up in the early hours to rain lashing against the window and was glad that I put a waterproof rug on my girlie. This time next week she will start coming into her stable at night.
Have my eldest DSS coming for lunch and to watch the footie with his Dad, he can't eat loads as he is playing football himself straight after so think I will do baguettes with southern fried chicken strips inside, not sure about supper, I picked up some of those Heck sausages when I went shopping on Thursday so maybe those.
Have a good day all and take care in the stormy weather x0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Dumpling I’m sorry to hear that things are not so good for your family right now (hugs) for Becky and Phoebe.
Nelski hope you are enjoying yourself and had a good journey.
Silver-oldie – (hugs) I understand how lack of sleep doesn’t help how you are feeling when you are low. I do hope that you manage to get some sleep soon.
Judi – have a good time away.
After getting more than a little wet while out shopping yesterday I’ve decided that I’m not venturing out of the house at all today.
I came home to one of the dreaded cards from the postman saying that he had tried to deliver a recorded delivery letter and I could collect it from the sorting office from today. I was expecting this but didn’t think it would turn up until today. It’s only some paperwork that I requested so can wait until Monday when the forecast isn’t so bad.
JL are delivering my new tv sometime today between 11.00am and 1.00pm, so it will be nice to have a tv again. I don’t watch much but there are a few things that I have missed over the past week or so.
Right, I need to get some breakfast and get going.
Hugs to those who are having a difficult time at the moment or are unwell.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Up early for me at the weekend as I am working today, its a shift I swapped with a friend a few weeks ago so only today to work then two days off.
The weather is bad here this morning seems storm Brian has arrived with wind and howling rain, I suspect work will be very quiet, we can do lots of cleaning and baking if that's the case.
Not sure about dinner tonight OH will be in charge of that, he has said he will put the new cupboard up which will house my airer, ironing board etc, I am most excited about this as they are cluttering up my under stairs cupboard, so I can get that sorted too.
Jenny hello to you, I am sorry about your dad xx
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Woken early by the thing that lives next door. I was exhausted anyway but am even more so now.
Had a cream cracker, butter and mature cheddar fest at about 5.30am..oops!
Hope everyone is well and you all have a good day.
Take care x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Good morning everyone.
We’re awash here, must have been pouring all night again. Yesterday was such a clear and bright day though today has low thick mist. Not much wind so perhaps storm Brian is not visiting here.
In a moment of madness I bought chicken sausages yesterday. Now I’m beginning to slightly regret it, I’m not sure they can be too nice. Anyone else had them?
The new printer is all set up and working. I’ve had to clear out the windowsill in the utility room for it which is a ‘good thing’ as it was a dumping ground really. I’ll disconnect the old printer this morning and take it downstairs ready for getting rid. I’m not going out today unless forced to!
SCD tonight, without Bruno, judging could be dull.
I hope that everyone is doing well or getting better, happy Saturday.0 -
Good morning everyone and like a new born baby the weather is wet 'n'windy here at the moment but not cold at least I will spend the morning sewing up some squares for the charity blankets as my friend delivered a big bagful yesterday.
Round table quiz night tonight ,hopefully at least I won't get blown away
DD and my Son-in-law arrived safe and sound in New York and messaged me around 12.30 last night,I didn't have a great night as there was a fox barking for his lady love quite a bit during the night and it kept waking me up ,noisy beggar I wish he would do his courting somewhere else:):)
Hope everyone is warm and safe and dry as its due to be a bit rough today weatherwise
Take care all

Morning All
No storm here but it is wet. Yesterday was a really lovely day, with sunshine. Even the washing got an airing outside and all but dried.
I had a lovely day looking after the 5 year old, we went swimming (an hour and a half of slides, waves and bobbing about on big floats), there's a playpark outside so we spent half an hour there. After lunch and building some monsters we went for a walk/scooter in the big country park. Not sure about the 5 year old but I was ready for bed about 8.30! He is a lot of fun but not sure I could do that every day.
Ironing done and a white load waiting to go on after I've had a shower, I'll have a hoover round later.
Welcome Jenny, sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.
Hope things improve for you dumpling.
Gers - I have had chicken sausages, didn't really enjoy them to be honest, probably better in a casserole.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I think my sleepless week must have caught up with me last night as, for once, I had a good long sleep. I wish every night could be like that!
Well Storm Brian has yet to make his presence felt here. No rain, only a slight wind and the sun is shining! Looking at the sky though I think he can't be far away!
After a stressful and taxing day yesterday I think today will be a lazy day. If the weather is going to be as bad as they say then the mossy drive is on hold yet again. It looks disgraceful. One job that really needs doing, if I am looking for something to do, is defrosting the upright freezer. Plus giving it a good sort out and making note of the contents after my bulk purchases of ys meat/chicken t'other day. Might leave some out to do a batch cooking session tomorrow.
GERS Strictly won't be the same without Bruno flinging himself about will it! But, to be honest, I haven't missed Len at all. He ended up a right grumpy old so-and-so.
KARCHER nice to have you back again but sorry you still have that horrible neighbour annoying you. DUMPLING special hugs for you and your girls. SILVER OLDIE hope you too had a better night. ((HUGS)) to all the other sad, worried or poorlies who want them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Welcome Jenny, we live on our narrowboat on the K&A.
CHS ha been delivered to work I'm having a cuppa before I decide what to do today. I need to check my list to see if I have a boat to clean, if not I'll bottom out the bedroom on my boat.
We've had a lot of rain here so it was a big step down to the jetty, the ropes are slack to stop the boat tilting.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.0
