Hi
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what happens once the intermediary sends the completed debt relief document to the insolvency service? Is it just an automated system or do they run checks on your outstanding debts, salary with the inland revenue etc. Also from the point of the intermediary pressing the button how long (usually) do they take to approve/decline the application?
Thanks in advance.

It is sent through the DRO portal, electronically to the DRO Unit. Intermediaries vary on what checks they do (It is your application and your responsibility) but as a minimum should check your Experian report and value any appropriate vehicle. Is it just an automated system or do they run checks on your outstanding debts, salary with the inland revenue etc. It is completely automated, no person actually makes a decision - the computer checks that the parameters have been inputted as compliant and the DRO pops out of the machine. There are no people sifting information UNLESS a creditor later makes an objection or one of the automatic checks (Experian, Land Registry) flag up an issue - this is where 'manual intervention' takes place. Also from the point of the intermediary pressing the button how long (usually) do they take to approve/decline the application? My estimate is that 90% of my applications are approved within 48 hours. The time taken for various organisations intermediaries to process applications PRIOR to submission can vary considerably from a couple of days to 12 weeks.
Thanks in advance.
