Ikea refusing guarantee

Hi,
I purchased a Friheten Sofa from Ikea in 2013. The purchase was made in store. Along with my receipt i was given a 10 year Guarantee booklet which specifically names Friheten as one of the sofas covered under the 10 year Guarantee. The booklet also specifically lists "Base linen / supporting fabric" as covered in the Guarantee.
The base supporting fabric has come away from the sofa and the filling is now crumbling out and away.
I phoned Ikea, explained the issue, they verified my receipt exists and they have said the sofa only has a 1 year Guarantee. I have my receipt and Guarantee booklet, I've e-mailed in a copy of the booklet and the reciept as instructed and which has made no difference.
The store is over an hour away and I cant make the trip at the moment.
Suggestions please?

Even if/ when they acknowledge the ten year guarantee, be aware that it only covers workmanship issues. They do have a habit of rejecting claims such as this as not down to workmanship, and in the case of a cheap four year old sofa I expect this will be the case.
Before a LBA I'd call through to the store and speak to the manager. Ikea CS can be rather robotic, you might at least get a more human response this way.0 -
I have the same issue with my Friheten Sofa - could you please tell me how you got on with resolving this issue. Many thanks in advance.0

This thread is about 18 months old, and the OP only has 1 post to their name, I don't think they are coming back0

The original poster asked their question and never returned. You probably won't get an answer from them.0

Not going to happen, I take it you can see the OP posted in 2017.
You would have been better off starting your own thread.0 -
Better late than never.
Contacted IKEA by phone as per the instructions on the Guarantee booklet, in person as instructed over the phone and then in writing when all else failed. I got no response to the letter. For context i'm a very passive person and suffer panic attacks at the drop of a hat so I was in no way confrontational or pushy on the phone or in person and the people I spoke to couldn't have been less interested.
I've come to the conclusion IKEA Guarantees are just a scam.
I've since purchased a refurbished sofa from Sofology who really went the extra mile, I had an issue with the sofa about 6 months after delivery and it got sorted absolutely no problem.
Lesson learnt, buy a sofa from a sofa shop not a poor quality discount retailer.0
