I'm trying to add examples to a website of my retouching skills and it asks for URL links but I have images on Flickr and Google Web site but these links are http - so I'm at a loss of how to link these images??!??!
'Image URL must be a direct link to the IMAGE, not the PAGE.
ie.) https://www.page.com/myimage.JPG (NOT www.page.com/mypage.HTML)'
can someone please explaine this in nice easy simple terms please  cos my brain is a little slow. ta

Hi,
Basically you upload your pictures to your webspace in .JPG or.GIF format and then when you want to use the picture on a web page or link to that picture on its own you enter the path..... www.yourwebsitename/picturename.jpg
Edit: sorry, reading this again I don't think my post helps. I've just commented on adding pictures to the web in general.See you on the dark side of the moon0 -
On photobucket you get 3 options, the option to insert a photo into a webpage or forum starts with 'img' (which is then followed by the url)Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

Stupid question, but you are copying the link under the photo and not from the address bar aren't you?Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

thanks for your help... mentioning photo bucket reminded me that I do actually have an account with them (sign up to so many things that I forget after awhile!)
Hopefully this will do the trick.
Pumpa... I was using the address bar info because that's all that shows! (from Flickr and Googleweb pages!)
I would have thought that I could have used Flickr myself but I guess not.
Thanks for your suggestions... I'm off to try the photobucket route.Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -
Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Tag
IMG Code
photobucket only give these options... no URL ???
Image URL must be a direct link to the IMAGE, not the PAGE.
ie.) www.page.com/myimage.JPG (NOT www.page.com/mypage.HTML)
Image URL 1:
Image URLs must be in URL format.
(I've taken off the image name and .jpg as it actually pasted the image into this thread... now why can't it do that on the site I want it to????)

Should be "direct link". URL is the address. So http://www.page.com/pic.jpg is the URL."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

In photobucket then, depending on where you are trying to insert the pic, it is either 'direct link' or 'img code', forget the terminology. For instance, if i wanted to insert a pic here in mse, i would copy and paste the 'img code' link.
Edit- reread your post, Superscaper is right, copy and paste the 'direct link' one, i think it is in blue if memory serves!Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0 -
Just to reemphasise, the http:// address is the URL code."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

ahhhh... that's the bit that was confusing me - actually still does slightly (?) but I am easily confused.
But as to adding the link on to the site I wanted it has worked a treat.
