5G is just useless through walls.
The 2.4G band has longer range, but is susceptible to interference from so many different devices. Things like AV transceiver kits, wireless analogue CCTV, dodgy alarm systems, TVs, microwaves, the list is as long as my arm.
Wait a second.............
Over the past 3 months our WiFi at home has been constantly dropping out and slowing down. PlusNet advised the speed coming in is fine and stable, and if they send an engineer and no fault is found then we will be charged £65.00.
Your still at the ISP automatic denial of problem stage...... Sounds like you need to figure out if it really is a WiFi issue or not, have you tried ethernet connection yet? Try this next to WiFi and monitor the connections......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

What Plusnet router do you have, or are you using your own? If it's the Plusnet 2704n router or 582n routers then they are garbage and useful only over Ethernet (even then they are fairly unreliable)
I would be looking to change the router first to a Hub One or better (almost anything else is better, to be honest) and then look to adding homeplugs or extenders if problems still persists. Plusnet may be right in that "at our end" the connection is fine. But a crap router means you do not get to use that connection in any reasonable capacity.
It would be pointless adding wireless extenders and homeplugs if the router itself is not very good to begin with.0
