Sky help!

Hi
I am having a right brain melt over this! It's a bit complicated sorry! So,, I have moved into a new house and the sky box / cables etc are all in the front living room. However I want to move the tv into the back living room as my beloved sofa won't fit in the front living room!! I bought a wireless transmitter from Amazon so you can watch tv in different rooms which seems like a great piece of kit. Unfortunately though I've realised I will still need the sky cables to go in the wall in the front living room as well into the tv so I cannot move the tv without having to trail a REALLY long wire all around the skirting boards and the doorframes to reach the tv in the back living room - potentially unsightly I think.

So, now I am thinking of getting SKY Q which could solve the problem but would I still need a tv in the front living room in order for the sky box to function??? sorry if none of this makes sense! any help given would be VERY apprciated! Thank you!!!

You need to get an installer in to run a set of cables from your Sky dish outside the house and bring them in in the room you want the box to go in.

The "Main" Sky Q box still needs cables (2) from the dish.

The "Sky Q Mini" boxes don't, they can connect back to the main box either wirelessly, over powerline, or via ethernet. Only 2 such boxes can be in use at once (assuming the main box is Sky Q Silver)

I would suggest that it's better to use ethernet than wireless. Sky will install repeaters in rooms inbetween if required though.

Finally, the mini boxes only go up to 1080p, no 4k, so you likely want your "main" tv on the main box.

If you get Sky Q installed, they will need to change the LNB to a wideband one (the thing sticking out the front of the dish) so may be happy to move the dish and put in new cables that may work out better anyway.
