Yes you might keep your place clean but what about the rest of the block??
Cockroaches move about a building through stud walls, cracks beneath the skirting boards, out of the overflow in a basin & hundreds of other ways.
Unless you catch one or get a picture of one there is not a lot else anybody can do for you.
  • Thanks Firefox .
I had a text conersation with my friend who lives local.
He seems to think it may be a stag beetle that’s lost its way, as it’s not right climate for cockroaches .
In hindsight , I should’ve took a photo before taping up the vents .

I looked on poole Council website . They don’t treat cockroaches/ beetles. I was thinking of contacting the managing agents .
I’m looking for a pest control Co. , but want to avoid huge charge for what may be a small job .

I was gonna ask the builder who has done a lot of work for me if he wants to check the vent and cover it with mesh, letting the extractor work as normal but keeping spiders roaches and beetles out .

Where in the UK do you live that it's not the 'right climate' for cockroaches? The thrive in most places.

    Edit:
I see you live in Poole, there's no reason cockroaches wouldn't live there.

That's not to say they're common; I've never seen a cockroach in the UK.

    Lucky you!

I lived in a flat with cockroaches, they came from one of the flats and spread through the whole block, they took about 3 goes of fumigation to get rid. Those were the small 1/2 inch ones.

At school we had the huge 2 inch ones in the showers and changing rooms.

When I lived in Saudi Arabia we were at one time in an apartment where if you went out for the night when you got back in there would be enormous cockroaches lining every wall. Needless to say they could fly too.

Few know cockroaches as well as I do. Disgusting creatures.

cockroaches, blimey that reminds me of my childhood in the 50s, Liverpool terraces. My mother swore that they came from under the skirting board from next door and there were dozens. When we brought a boyfriend back at night we made sure to stamp on the floor before switching the light on. They scarpered. Those houses were eventually demolished and we never saw one again, after we moved. I even took one to school once, in my satchel. They were big

If you have lights always on, you won't. They love the dark.

I heard from one of my previous mangers of the story of where he worked where he turned out the lights and later turned them back on only to find a sea of them.

I personally have seen many of them at one place I worked and had one of the blighters fall into the back of my shirt. After a few choice but polite words to my boss, the place was treated.

Had to be treated every 6 months after that to keep them in check.
