Hi, cutting a very long story short....around 10 months ago my then husband informed me that he had taken out credit cards (4 in total) in my name and had reached the limit on each one. He only told me as one of the companies had become suspicious and he was terrified of legal action. After years of similar behaviour I started divorce proceedings and ended the marrage.
Since then he agreed to transfer each card into his name, which is documented in the divorce paperwork including the reasons why, and has done as we agreed. However, i have been left with a default for one of these cards which reports that i 'changed address and did not inform them.' This obviously isnt true, plus i have been in my home for over 10 years.
Ive practically begged him to somehow sort this out and have it removed, but he just keeps saying that he is trying. Yet month after month it remains in place and i am being rejected for credit that i desperatley need. My report is really good apart from this, ive never been in debt that i was unable to re pay and every other account shows i have paid absolutley everything on time and in full.
I have messaged the credit score company and ticked the 'i dont recognise this account,' box, but i dont know where to go from here. I can not go to the police, please dont advise it. I dont have the energy to go into it on here but under no circumstances whatsoever can i report him to the police.
Any similar experiences or advice is welcome though, thanks for reading.
(You know who you are and if your reading this i dont care, this is what im reduced to, i hope youre happy).

The only way is to report it to the police.
Otherwise, you will have to keep the accounts.
Although your husband may have told you that the cards were transferred to him, they weren't. He simply agreed to pay the amounts outstanding. The accounts remain in your name.0 -
Yes, I agree with the above. I can’t imagine any CC company simply changing the name on an account, unless in the case of marriage, without asking a lot of questions. Questions that your ex would not be able to answer without implicating himself in fraud.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

Why can't you report him to the police?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Why can you not go to the police? Is he a copper himself??0

The default will stay, as far as the bank is concerned you were at fault for the default unless you tell them you didnt carry out the application.0

The accounts are gone from my report though, all thats on there is the default. Plus i would die of suprise if was actually paying them off, theres just no way he is. In which case i would expect the credit card companies to come straight back to me.
You know what, I give up. If they are still in my name ill have to deal with it. Ive had years of this, im just going to greatful that he's gone.
*no police sorry0 -

He maybe thinks likewise.
Why did he take out the credit?
Was he supplementing yours/his or both of your life styles whilst you carried on spending oblivious to his lack of funds? And he was too scared to say 'We can't afford it/that!'.
Or did he have a bad gambling habit or some such?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

One of the credit cards. But the details and balances for each card is no longer shown. Infact the balance reduced when they were removed.0

No he wasnt funding my life style in any way shape or form, its almost laughable actually.."whilst i carried on spending" no, not even close.
I gave up on the why, what and how for the sake of my wellbeing a long time ago, so only he could answer those questions.0
