Cordless telephone recommendations

Unfortunately I need to replace my Panasonic twin cordless home phones due to 1 handset not working. Reviews on various brands are very disappointing, complaints range from the ringers not being loud enough on maximum volume, speech not loud enough or clear when using the line and cannot be heard even on the loudest setting.

The BT 2700 has permanent annoying blue lights, the ringer was too quiet on loudest setting. The 3530 has a crackling background noise when in use, I could not hear the person I called so used hands-free which was better but the person I called could not hear me.

The features I require are:-
2 cordless handsets and Hands free

Answerphone optional but would need ON/OFF switch

Any recommendations on currently available 'phones would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on how much you want to pay, but if replacing a phone I would go for one of the BT call blocker phones which can eliminate nuisance calls, excellent kit and does what it says well.

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

I’ve moved your thread from the ‘I wanna’ board to the ‘Phones & TV’ board, where it is better suited.

Our latest Panasonic set (our first dual) is very good and was very cheap as 'used' from Amazon. It had not been actually used as all cables were still in the original packets and there were no finger marks on the handsets, but the cardboard box was a tiny bit tatty.

It's the TGC212EB,(which feels very comfortable when weighted by batteries) as we didn't need the answerphone facility.

It's currently £31.75 with just damaged packing, but I paid less than £30 and a trio is a good idea,if used as a duo, so you have spare when one goes. (Ours have, twice been dropped on the tiled kitchen floor , with no damage.)

Not to hi-jack the thread, but can anyone recommend a phone with a loud ring, please?

    I'm constantly missing calls.

I don't know of one with a loud ring, but if you have a duo or trio, you can have a handset in the room you are in ,so no listening out for a phone in the hall or being stuck because to misplaced a handset.

Get a phone with in-built trueCall call-blocking technology... e.g. BT 8500, BT 8600 or BT Halo.

If the phone has inbuilt True Call do you still need to pay the phone company provider a monthly subscription? Thanks for your advice.

You will need Caller ID. With some providers this comes free (BT), with others it can cost up to £1.99 a month.
