Virgin Credit Card 0% deal refused

Hi guys,

Has anyone had any trouble getting a credit card with Virgin?

My partner and I have a credit card debt which we are balance transferring untill it is paid. Usually we take one out in my name, then one in hers when the deal ends, then one in mine and so on all the while cancelling the one we've had prior.

All has worked well untill now. We applied for Virgins credit card only to be told that they cannot transfer a balance if the credit that the balance is being transferred from is in a different name to the one it is being transferred on to.

I don't remember seeing anything like that in their Ts and Cs.

Any one else had a problem like this.

Bit annoying as we have a good credit rating and have never been refused a credit card but have now had to pay this months bill and will get charged interest now over the next month while we sort out another.

Cheers

Youngie

    It's in the FAQ
Can I transfer the balance to a card that isn't in my name?
You can complete a balance transfer to an account in your name, or in the name of your additional cardholder. Additional cardholders can also request balance transfers to accounts they are named on.

    There's the answer.
The OP needs to apply for a Virgin CC and make his partner an additional cardholder then balance transfers can be done to existing cards in either name.
  • I recently put a large purchase on my dad's credit card as his limit would take it. I then applied for 2 BT cards, Virgin and MBNA. On the application it mentioned BT details and to list card number and name to pay off. I just put my name and the BT went through fine on both cards.
  • You can normally do BT on Virgin for 2 months after the card opened at the promotional rate.

Virgin offered me the same terms on a money transfer as a balance transfer so that might be another potential workaround if it is still the case.
