My OH really wants one of these and I am intending to buy one shortly.
My only concern is how long will the 2G network be around for?
I don't want to buy something that won't work a couple of year's time.

Hmm it is a risk to be honest, I've read quite a few conflicting articles about it as well.

This one might help: http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/781047/Nokia-3310-2G-switch-off-UK-release-date-price0 -
Thanks for all of the information.
My OH only wants it for occasional phone calls and texts - doesn't need internet access via his phone.
As I said, my only concern is if it would still function as a telephone if 2G disappears.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

No, I read it, sorry I didn't make that clear.
Undoubtedly the 3G version would be considerably more expensive than £49 though.
Just noticed at the bottom of the page they are saying somewhere in the region of £60+, but will the 2G ones that are still for sale now work going forward a few years.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I really wouldn't worry about 2G going anywhere soon, in the UK at least. Some of the UK does not even yet have 3G coverage, never mind 4G.0

Consider this. A hotel I stay in in Wales has 3 3G, EE 2G and 3G, O2 2G coverage and limited outdoor Vodafone 2G. According to the Vodafone coverage checker it will have 4G coverage later this year but no 3G.0
