I wonder what the best freely available tools are to analyse investment portfolios? I have played with Morningstar's stocks and share portfolio tool and note some of the features are available on an additional subscription.
Are there better "free" tools available based on this forum members experience and do any provide or highlight areas for potential rebalancing?
I ask in part before I attempt to build something freehand in excel.
Many thanks

I am interested in this too, I took the trail for Morningstar paid option and found the site dreadfully slow and awkward to use which would be acceptable for free but not when paid for.
I'd happily pay for a good solution
I am going to revisit trustnet this weekend see if that will work for us having just looked seems to have some analysis tools from memory last time it didn't have some holdings I had available0 -
I use both MS and TN but find the analysis functionality on the latter better.0

I use the Morningstar paid-for facility as it has more detailed analysis than Trustnet in particular company size and growth vs value which are important to my investment strategy. On the other hand Trustnet is easier to use generally and the charting facilities are excellent. So in my opinion both sites are essential to people who take a detailed interest in their investments.0

Really interested to see what ppl are using!0

Trustnet, but its charts are often at variance with the tables used to produce them.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0

Interesting, not something I have noticed. Do you have an example?
Thanks.0 -

Look at the difference between the Cumulative Performance figures in the table below the chart, and those in the chart itself.
For example, the table shows My Portfolio at +148.9% after five years, while the chart has it at about +125%.
The effect seems to come and go, and is often greater than this.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
Hmm. I just realised the chart isn't displaying to the end of the x axis.
I haven't noticed that before, but I wonder if that might be the problem. I think I would have noticed by now, but perhaps not.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
Your chart seems to stop soon after March 2017. With my data it looks like the 5 year graph is truncated a bit but I havent seen anything as bad as yours. The PDF version looks better.
I suggest you look at the tools/charting option. It is much more flexible allowing user specified dates, price return or total return and multiple plots. I havent noticed anything odd there.
PS duplicate of your findings - I spent 30 mins trying various things! Looking again my 5 year graph is OK, it was just the change in scaling leading to a change in marked months confused me.0 -
Talking about being confused...
I booted up my old Windows PC to see what it was like on there (it's pretty much okay with Firefox on there - I normally use Chrome on an Android tablet).
I then went back to my tablet, which I had left open on my post above but with the image of the Trustnet screenshot enlarged to the full screen while I had been explaining the issue to my wife.
Mistakenly thinking I was actually on Trustnet at the time, I clicked on the Download pdf 'link' in the image and... What on earth..?!
I might go back to bed and start today again. Already the dishwasher has vomited onto the kitchen floor and the shower has leaked through the ceiling to boot.
