Hello
Just a quick one, I am going to claim income support as I am a full time carer (receiving carers)
My question is, I am advised I will have to attend a interview at the JobCentre, and they are not very forcoming with information as what happens at this interview
Can anyone explain?
Lastly, will I be affected by UC when it comes in?
As I am told I will be automatically entitled to housing benefit etc so what difference will I notice?
Finally, UC is a awful system and I pray the government block its full roll out before it's too late, I can see suicides through people who are desperate

Hello. I am a carer for my 10 year old disabled son. I get Income Support and it is a low amount due to me having Carer's Allowance. In August I received a letter saying I had to attend a work focused interview at the job centre in October. If I didn't attend I would get a sanction. At the meeting I said I am a carer and explained about my life.He said I didn't have to work and I would have another in 3 years.0

The meeting should be more about checking to see that you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to than anything else. Although it's called a Work Focussed Interview, carers are not expected to be available to work in most cases.0
