I paid off my Aqua card today :)

Sorry, I know it's not a big thing but I paid off and closed down my Aqua card today. I am waiting for the confirmation letter to come in the post :T

So pleased as this one has has 34.9% APR and a balance of £1900 at one point and it's all gone, gone, gone!

I currently have the following:

£4413 on Barclaycard
£8454 on MBNA
£1201 on Halifax
£1500 First Direct overdraft
£1634 Natwest Overdraft
= £17,203 plus some pennies

So still a way to go. I was on £22k at the worst 6 months ago. I have managed to close down two catalogue accounts (my major plague) and one other credit card so this is the 4th debt closed and gone  5 more debts to close, so the next one will take me over the halfway mark in terms of number of creditors.

If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

  • well done!!!
  • Yes and no. I snowballed to get a good idea of the manner in which to pay things off but I have made a couple of substitutions to get rid of certain debts simply because they are the ones hanging over my head and causing me anxiety. My FD overdraft will be the next target, because it's my current account and I hate having it there all the time.
  • Is your OD cost higher than the interest on some of your other cards, namely MBNA and Barclaycard?
  • Congratulations and well done! X
It will all be ok in the end - if it's not ok, then it's not the end!
    Saving for Christmas 2019 #27 total £62.00
    Sealed pot challenge 12 #32 total £67.50
    Mortgage paid off.
  • I've done the same - mine was £1684.93 but I still have to pay the remaining interest which is about £50!!!! Have you had to do that?
  • Great news! Congratulations. Aqua CC will be my first one to clear, next Friday!
