Joshua v Pulev - Tickets Refund

Hi Guys,
A slightly unusual one. I bought two tickets to the Joshua Pulev fight next week, as I spend a lot of time working in Bulgaria and so the fight was of interest to me.

Now Pulev has pulled out of the fight and so it is Cancelled - but Eddie Hearn has put a replacement in, some French guy I have never heard of.

This new fight is of no interest to me, I booked tickets for Joshua Pulev and their names are on the Ticket and now it's not taking place.

I fully expected that Refunds would be available to those who wanted them, and suspect most people would still want to see Joshua. But for me and all the travelling Bulgarians this fight is not what we wanted, and paid, to see!!

I contacted StubHub who sold the official tickets (not Resale) and they say No Refunds!!

Do I have any recourse? I made the purchase on a credit card.

Thanks in advance.

I'd of thought you'd have a right to a refund as they are no longer providing the service you purchased. Depends what their terms state though but even so it's a material change to the contract

The T&Cs for such events usually have a disclaimer / waiver regarding listed participants, that they can change at any time.

Whether such a term gives them a get-out I don't know, but that's what they'll be relying on.

You bought a ticket to a boxing match - which is still going ahead. As stated above, there will be a clause in the T&Cs about substitution of participants .... you need to check exactly what it says.

I don't have the actual ticket here (I am in Bulgaria and planned to collect them when in the UK) so I can't check the T & Cs on them, and can't seem to find any other mention of them anywhere else.

I have seen copies of the ticket though, and what is clearly stated on the Ticket are the names of the Boxers!! They probably do have a get out clause, but surely I must have some case here - because any clause that allows this situation cannot be fair.

Is it worth raising a dispute with my card company as a starting point?
