I'm considering fixing my TV in the bedroom to the wall.
I have had a quick look at what is available but there is so much choice.
Any advice on what sort to look for or the actual fixing process?

If it's a solid wall it's easy, if it's plasterboard it's more tricky and will require special screw in wall plugs to stop the weight of it ripping itself off the wall, it'll also need I would think 10g screws as a minimum.

It will be fixed onto a chimney breast.

Check for electric cables & water pipes before you started drilling
    any holes.

Depends on whether you want to have the position fixed or on an arm to vary the viewing angle as to which bracket you buy.
As for fixing it to the wall, it's very straight forward and most brackets will come with the fixing instructions.
If you aren't confident enough to do the job, ask a neighbour or get in a handy person to fix it. But, I'm sure that you will be totally capable of the job.

so.... my TV is around 10 years old and having taken a closer look at the back it has no holes for it to be attached to a wall bracket.
But thank you all for your advise and next time I will check something can be done before I ask for advise.
