EPSON RX425 Updated drivers - now can't use compatible cartridges!

Just wondering if anyone has any idea how to locate older driver versions for printers?

Due to hard disk failure I had to re-install everything on my laptop, including my Epson RX425 all-in-one printer.:mad: Being unable to locate the original disks, I downloaded a driver for XP from Epson website and re-installed the printer.

Before I had to do this the printer worked fine with compatible cartridges, but since the re-install, it now fails to recognize the compatibles it contained already, or new ones I have tried to insert and refuses to allow me to print anything!!:mad:

I've had the printer for about 18mths or so, hence don't think the April 1st issue applies, but maybe Epson are reverse-engineering when they update drivers?

Any suggestions to rectify this would be gratefully received.

cant imagine why your having problems though? I have an epson dx3850 and been using compat carts for many months & only recently updated drivers from epsons site after a hd crash...and I can still use compat carts weird!

Have uninstalled and re-installed about 5 times now to no avail. Don't know what's going on!!!

You might want to run this first as unistalling doesn't always clear the entries from the registery

Probably a daft question, but you have taken the protective covers off the carts and put them in the correct place

Thanks for trying Reggie Rebel. Regrettably the only driver for this printer that I found there is the one I've been trying and have cleaned up registry, too!

As for putting cartridges in correctly I guess I should know what to do after having used the printer for 18 months! (I did double-check, tho' !!:rotfl: )

Any other ideas, anyone, please?

No idea why this worked but changed the (still two-thirds full) black cartridge for a new one and HEY PRESTO!! All cartridges now recognised and functional!!!
