Help please, car finance company based in Cardiff

Long shot here. In 2001 we bought a car from Colchester Avenue Car Sales. We were very young, very naive, paid way over the odds for it and ended up with a ridiculous rate on the car finance. Very pushy salesman sent us off to the finance company to collect the cheque (yep that was how it was done) but they were only going to wait 20 mins, blah, blah, blah. We know that there was PPI on this finance as we remember the salesman talking about how fantastic it was, if we ended up out of work the payments would be made, not bothering to check facts that A. I was a student and B. Hubby was on temporary contract.
Problem is we have no idea what the name of the finance company was. I think I remember the logo was blue and orange and the office we were sent to to pick up the cheque was around the Park Place/St Andrews Place area. Nothing on the credit file to give us any clues and no paperwork anywhere. I don’t suppose anyone knows who the company could have been?

Who sold you the PPI? The car dealer or the finance company?
You need to complain to the seller.0 -
A very long shot.Long shot here.
Even if you find out who sold you the PPI, car dealers weren't regulated in 2001 and can therefore dismiss any mis-selling complaint you might make
The finance company was not the (mis) seller and so is irrelevant to any mis-selling complaint you might make.0 -
If they were indeed called Colchester Avenue Car Sales then your complaint is over because there is no company registered with that name.
And as said above, even if they did have your data, they weren't regulated and can dismiss your complaint.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
