While I agree the apology is due and their behaviour sounds abhorrent they cannot INSIST on a written apology, there is no law to say that they have to be apologised to at all let alone a written apology. Asking for one is fine but insisting is pointless. Same with the discipline against the employee/s that is entirely up to the company how they want to deal with it, OP has no right to insist that they are disciplined.
True, but if they refuse, then I would certainly be leaving factual feedback online regarding the company's lack of manners and vile workers.

The next day the installers came back to finish off and actually admitted to the word left and to advise that they had also broken a light in my daughters room.on closer inspection they had left large pieces of glass on the floor, bed and a chair.
Did you not check what they had done?
Did your child sleep in that room, with the glass and broken light?0 -
I definitely think I will be advising people away from the company because although initially they appeared extremely shocked by the behaviour of their installers I feel slightly insulted by the way it has been resolved.

Yes my daughter slept in her bed...and walked across the room with no socks.
I was only aware of the breakage the next morning. I found shards of glass the size of my hand in her bed and on the floor0 -

Assuming you knew the light was broken why didn't you check for the broken bits before she went to bed.
Other than the mess and the language ( builders often use colourful language) have they done a good job? If so take the money for the light and leave negative feedback0 -
As I said I wasn't aware, otherwise of course I'd clean up. They didn't bother to tell me and I hadn't noticed as she turned on a different light before bed. I suppose I should have expected a breakage or two and not to be informed.
And I suppose everyone should put up with offensive language being displayed in their home. It shouldn't really matter that a 7 year old and 9 year old could have seen it. Builders are builders after all and it wouldn't be a proper experience without a bit of vile language and offensive comments.

Yes the law doesn’t really cover idiot builders.
I’ve met one or two and some people like whats called “ cheeky” builders.Some of them are still dinosaurs that’s always a risk when you invite strangers into your home. You need to decide how much money would placate you , you probably should have indicated this first as others have said.0
