Code on Proof of Posting - Royal Mail - Help

Hi

A few weeks ago I posted an item via standard mail and the proof of posting had a reference number on that you could enter into the tracking section of the RM website and it confirmed whether the item had been delivered.

I sent various items earlier in the week (from a different PO) and checked about the reference number but they said that there wasn't a reference number on proof of postings.

I've posted something today at the same PO in first para and there is a reference number again. This PO is a really small village PO so it surely can't be something that's been implemented there and not at one in a large town.

Can anyone shed any light on this.

Thank you.

I assume that's what it's called, no it doesn't seem to be standard unfortunately. Is there anything I can do about it?

I think you only get codes on parcels. Large letters I send don't have a code. What service were you using, OP?
