compensation (car damage)

I live in an apartment block with a gated car park and recently had an unidentified (not a neighbour)vehicle cause substantial damage to my parked car. At the time the car park gates were broken and left open. On my insurance policy I stated that my vehicle is parked in a secure gated car park. Can I claim for the repairs to my car from the estate management company as the damage was caused by an unidentified vehicle entering the car park due to the gates being open? How valid is my insurance if the car park gates are broken (open) and I have stated it is kept in a secure gated car park? It is the property management companies responsibility to maintain the gates. Any advice would be appreciated.

It was the unidentified vehicle which damaged your car not the lack of working gates. Even if the gates were working, a car which had the right to be in the car park could still have damaged your car. Any claim you have is against the driver of the car and not the apartment management company.

Of course you can claim but you may not get anything. You did contact your insurer to notify them the gates were broken and to amend your policy didn't you.
You will now have to also notify your insurer of the damage regardless if you claim or not.
    Sounds costly to me.
