    The executors are not the people to ask. They need advice themselves!

    The OP states the executor is a solicitor hence my asking if it was the same one who oversaw the writing of the will.

    Is there anywhere the OP can get free advise? Would a half hour free slot at a solicitor cover this?

    Exactly! It would be a good start. It really depends on how much the OP thinks they might inherit and how much they can afford.

    This is the sort of situation a well written Will can & should avoid, so do please check the executor is not the same soul who drafted the original Will & check out how much it would cost to either steer down the intestacy path and/or replace the executor.

    Beneficiaries were the parents of the deceased. No other children involved.

    Did the beneficiaries have other children ie did the deceased have siblings?
