Half of freezer of fridge freezer defrosting

My Hotpoint fridge freezer is 7.5 years old. Just now, I put something away in the freezer. Freezer has a flap down compartment at top and three drawers. Noticed when putting something away in the freezer the flap down section and top drawer, the food was half defrosted. The food in the bottom half is perfectly frozen solid. Door was fully closed. Not going to open the freezer door again today. Fridge is fine.

The freezer is fairly full

All I can say is, cold air drops (and warm air rises) so if it's not working correctly, it's possible the lower compartments may also be slowly defrosting?

Freezers do not usually have a light whch comes on when the door opens, but I thought I would mention this:

Our fridge door had dropped on the hinges slightly, and was no longer touching the switch which turns the light off. Being an older fridge, the light was halogen, which puts out a lot of heat. It was not obvious, as you cannot see if the light goes out when the door closes.... Caused the compressor to run a lot, and too warm/too cold areas of the fridge.

I put a phone taking video into the frdge, to check if the light went out on door closure. It didn't.

Solution was to reverse the door, so it opens the other way (it was the door part of the hinge that was faulty, so using the other side worked fine.)
