    One tip - even if you find the cottage on one of these agency sites, see if you can contact the owners directly. These sites take a hefty commission and the owner is more likely to give you a good deal if you can book direct with them.

    Indeed - I advertise on Trip Advisor - my top price for a week is £800 - yet TA will charge a client over £900!! They also take £20-30 off me as well.

    Depends which agency they are signed with. If its one that are selective with the properties they list owners won’t do side deals for fear of losing listing.
