Hi
Does anyone know what i should expect to pay to have three radiators replaced in my house? I want to get an idea of the cost before i go looking for someone to do the job to avoid getting scammed.
Not sure that it would matter much but the sizes are something like 600x600 (2) and 600x800 (1).
Thanks

Two questions.
Why do you want to change them?
And are you changing like for like regarding size?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Hello ariba10
They're leak due to rust. I've turned the valves off so they're not leaking now but can't use them either.
Yes changing like for like.0 -
how's your mobility? if you are replacing like for like, have you thought of DIY? check out youtube to see how its done and check out screwfix for radiators.0

If you can use the same pipework and the rads are EXACTLY the same size, its probably a mornings work. So look from £100 - £200.
However I would suggest changing the valves at the same time as this means that next week you wont have to call him back to change a faulty valve. For that allow about £15/set but nearer £250 in total.
If they are different sizes, allow £300 ishEat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Rough breakdown straight swap / little alteration of pipes.
2 x 600x600 singles £55
1 x 600x800 single £35
1 bottles of corrosion inhibitor £15
Materials percentage (105 x 0.25) £26
Total materials £131
Labour £120
Total £231
If your rads are doubles then double the rad costs
If you want new valves then £25 a rad extra (good brand trv's)
If floors need lifting to alter pipe work then extra Labour and materials will be added.
This is a rough guess based on what little info is in the post. Materials percentage covers warranty, delivery, etc..... This percentage will depend on the company and its quotation structure. There may be a percentage added to total cost instead.
Have you questioned why your rads have rusted away?0 -
If a couple of radiators have started rusting others will probably follow. You need to get your system checked for corrosion, drain and refill with corrosion inhibitor.
If the valves are being changed, meaning the pipework is being drained anyway, it isn't much extra work to add inhibitor.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
