It could get even worse. If he remarried and didn't write a will leaving an inheritance to the children, the second wife would inherit everything and none of the children would be entitled to anything (if they were adults by the time he died). Posted Mojisola
This happened to Mr S. The house he grew up in eventually went to the (adult) children of the man his step-mother married after Mrs S's father died.0 -

She really does need proper advice then.
She needs to find out whether there would have to be some provision made for the 2nd husband, especially if he's contributing to the mortgage etc.
Just tell her to be careful of the wording - my late FIL made provision for the woman who was his partner (not married) and because of the wording, potentially, hubby and his sibling could never see their inheritance.0 -
I know it has already been said but just to ram it home a bit.
