It's great that you now have internet access at work, you could maybe start answering a few surveys or doing daily clicks on pigsback or quidco, that's what I do if I get the chance.

I've been meaning to reply to a few recent posts, but have been struggling to find the time in the last week or so.

As regards internet access at work, I recently attempted to view a site that sells playstation games and the site was blocked. Speaking to our security officer, our web filtering software blocks sites by various categories.

Although they've opened up internet access between 12 & 2pm, certain categories of site, in this case on-line gaming and games are still blocked. Us lot in IT have been testing this adjustment to the filtering for a week or two, but it's opened up to all employees from tomorrow, so I guess there's going to be a rush of "please unblock this site" type requests...

So, I don't envisage getting that much done at work in my lunch, although I paid a credit card on-line today!

Anyway, I generally like to get away from my desk at lunch - eg go for a walk, but it was bitterly cold today.

  • Mortgage interest. As we’re at 31st January, I’ve checked the mortgage account and we’ve had 279.86 in interest applied this month. Dividing this by 31 give 9.03 per day in interest.

I've just checked 2007 - we paid 3,427 for the whole year in interest. 9.03 * 365 gives 3,295, so already I'm going to see a reduction. Would be nice if the interest for the year was sub-3k. Should be able to project this more accurately as the months progress.

February payment. Standard mortgage payment is on the 1st – this is 898.03. I’m also going to overpay by 351.97 tomorrow, giving a February mortgage payment of 1,250.00. As there’s no council tax payment in February, I’d love to bump this up a touch more, but seeing as 1,250.00 is the most we’ve ever thrown at the mortgage in one month, I’m going to see how the cash flow goes and I can always overpay again (up to 500.00) before the 29th February, but I suspect 1,250.00 will be our limit.

Full round up of numbers and update of the first page / signature once the payment and overpayment has cleared.

Well done..nice to see a difference
  • Well, I've just logged on to the nationwide internet banking from work and done the 351.97 overpayment. These normally take up to two working days to clear, so I suspect I'll not be able to do the stats update until Monday or Tuesday.

    Well done you

Thought I'd pop over to your thread to see how you are getting on. Well done on the overpayment. I know what you mean though about being tempted to send even more off, it really does get addictive this overpaying lark.

How about waiting until the end of the month to see how your cash is going and if you have some spare then send it off to your mortgage company or if not I'll have it (if its going spare):D

Take care, hope you dont get too much snow this weekend we are forcast loads in the north east but it is lovely when you have littlies to enjoy it with. My teenage boys just pelt you with snowballs!

  • Hi,

Am the only one still up in the bliss house hold, and I'm just checking BBC news, e-bay, MSE forums etc.

Quidco. I had the urge to log on to quidco - the holiday I booked last November for June 2008 - the earnings have just shown as paid as of 1st February. At 10.41 (after the 5.00 fee) it's not a massive amount, but better in our coffers. Guess I should see this shortly.

I'm getting old. I've had another letter, this time from Rias - insurance for the over 50's. I can see this getting annoying. Clearly, I must be on some database with an incorrect age. Gave them a call - 0800 they suggested I contact customer services to ask where they sourced my data from, so I've emailed them, also asking for my details to be removed.

Dont get me started on my e-mail junk my poor husband is starting to get a complex for the assistance they claim to provide:eek:

  • Hi,

I track my mortgage every Sunday. By this, I mean that I log into the internet banking and make a note of the actual mortgage value. By doing this, I can determine via a spreadsheet minimum, maximum and average values for my mortgage over the year.

Plot these year on and you get a motivational graph showing your mortgage reducing.

Well, today, the February payments showed up.:j At present we're at 67,809 having jumped through "68" completely. MFiF percentage now stands at 14.15%

Hopefully got a maximum of 58 months / payments left and I estimate I need to pay 1,325.57 to still hit that goal. This amount is creeping up slightly - basically as I need to put a bit more towards the mortgage each month than I'm doing, but I'm going to ignore that problem for now.

    Off to update post #1

Oh - had a bit of a faff with the signature. Has been trimmed slightly. It told me I had to edit to under 300 characters, but to be fair, this was mentioned.

Well Done FB you are making excellent progress. I wish I could view my account online but A&L dont have the option so I am waiting for my January mortgage statement to arrive in the post. It will be the first one showing an overpayment of £310.
